Balaram Chua Is Back from the American Chamber Business Leadership Program

Balaram Chua (BSArch-5) is back from the American Chamber Business Leadership Program (AmCham BLP). Ram is one of the (only) 32 students who made it after the rigorous screening and interviews done by the organization to identify the best students who are suited to join them in this annual activity.

After the event, here is what Ram Chua, who is also the president of the Honors Society, has to say:

When AmCham Business Leadership Program proper started, I never felt so different and separated. With most of the company visits we had, I was seeking for belongingness. Being an architecture student, I was waiting for a time or place when or where I could relate; the closest was to a solid engineering company. Little did I notice that I need not to find a company to belong or relate to – I had my AmCham BLP Batch.

I met good friends who worked well with each others’ strengths instead of pointing out others’ weaknesses. AmCham made me realize that the degree or program you’re in does not limit your skills and capabilities. In the corporate world, you could still contribute something for the company’s growth.

Our team, out of the 6 teams, was declared as the Champion of the AmCham Business Plan Competition. The business challenge was to create a social enterprise, the idea and business model, which is focused on agricultural innovation.

Similarly in our school, anyone could contribute something— be it in the curricular or extra curricular activities; regardless of their course.

It truly is an honor representing our school at the AmCham BLP. Thank you for the support, CIT-University, most especially to the administration.

#TatakTeknoy

Not just people who took on the #TopnotcherJourney are successful. Our Junior High School Department has produced countless men and women who flourished in their own fields and interests, as well. In fact, we need not look far to be inspired because some of them are here – just within our campus.

In this second installment of Junior High School “Successful Alumni”, we feature a few of our academic and administrative personnel who actually graduated from our Junior High and moved on to achieve more in College. Their being here (or being back) in CIT-University proves their loyalty and love to the institution which helped in molding them to become values-driven, highly-competent, and innovative professionals.

Our Mechanical Engineering graduates who brought pride for us last school year by winning 1st and 2nd place in the PSME – Cebu Chapter Research Presentation visited the campus to personally thank the University President, Engr. Bernard Nicolas Villamor, for his support in their endeavors when they were still students of the university. The five alumni were Phil Andrew Pino, Emil Angelo Tan, Lance Louis Banate, Roy Vincent Mahinay, and Jezreil Rojo. They are more grateful for the continued support of the administration for offering the University Library as a space for them to study and review now that they are getting ready for their licensure examination.

With them is the chair of the Mechanical Engineering department, Engr. Roberto P. Base. The department produced this year’s King of Engineers and has been the starting ground of the newly-organized Robotics Club. Aside from producing topnotchers, the ME department has also produced notable leaders, one of which is the current SSG President, Jowel Sollano.

We Congratulate Our New Professional Electrical Engineers Who Successfully Passed the Technical Evaluation

We congratulate our new Professional Electrical Engineers who successfully passed the Technical Evaluation for upgrading as Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE).

#exCITingFacts

Do you know the difference between a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) and a Registered Electrical Engineer (REE)?

Based on RA 7920 known as Electrical Engineering Law, PEEs have the sole authority to sign and seal electrical plans, and other related documents pertaining to practice of Electrical Engineering, and to practice the profession in full scope as defined by the law. REEs, on the other hand, can supervise the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment in power plants, industrial plants, and others related to electrical engineering practice, which requires engineering calculations or application of engineering data.

In addition, REE Licensure Examination can be taken by a fresh graduate of BSEE from CHED-recognized Universities and Colleges. While PEE evaluation requires a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.

PEE is the highest grade of professional license granted to practice electrical engineering in full scope and to have authority to sign and seal electrical plans/documents.

We Congratulate Ms. Roshene Velasquez for Being the Top 8 in the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination
