A group of TU Delft Master’s students visited CIT University last July 18, Wednesday, to discuss possible collaboration with our Civil Engineering Department for an international research and design project, otherwise known as ‘Poro Build-Up’. The students who gave a short description of the undertaking were David Klusener, Hermen van de Minkelis, and Juliet Mohammed. Poro Build-Up will take place in Camotes Island where the team will do research and design a house, taking into account typhoon resistant structural engineering in the Philippines. Aside from the house design, they also need to find a sustainable solution on how to get drinking water in the site.
During the said meeting, which was attended by the CE Department faculty and students, CIT committed to help in the investigation of the current water provision in Lilihan, Puro Island, Camotes. The group will also work together to develop a sustainable water supply and design a typhoon resistant structure made of traditional and local materials.
The meeting will hopefully open opportunities for collaboration for both universities.
